Several questions about riding ...?
I have some questions that I just started riding. I want to dispel before my next lesson. 1. Are chaps mandatory or optional to wear? 2. Jeans allowed to wear when you ride? Especially wrong way background and those that are long. would they be caught in the stirrups? 3. How do you know what size helmet to wear. Obviously, some say "Try it on 'but I bought this headset yesterday and it fits ok, but it looks huge on my head. Is this allowed or not? And how tight does the helmet should be? That's about it. Chaps are not essential, but can help keep you warm in the cold or to protect your legs from branches, etc. I was always taught - and I tell all my students - Never wear jeans when riding. The stitching on the inside of the leg rubbing against the saddle and lead you uncomfortable. Jeans are acceptable if you wear guys open with them. Jodhpurs and trousers are designed specifically for driving are the option most convenient and comfortable. As for hats, so you have to try to see if they match. You'll know if it fits correctly if it does not move around your head, and you should always wear the chin strap as tight as possible - obviously you should be able to speak and breathe! Your best option is to take head shop saddlery and ask them to help you find the right size. Hat poor assembly does not offer you much protection as one that fits correctly. Some models do not look huge, but there are other caps out there that look much better.
