Can't seem to find a bit my horse really likes. Thinking about getting a bosal. What do you think of these.?
I was looking on e-bay for bosals and wow do they have a lot and different kinds. I saw these indian side pull bosals. I have a Dr. Cook's bitless bridle that sure reminds me of these. Are they the same thing as a Dr. Cook's. What is the difference between these and an old fashioned mecate bosal? Should I just stay with the original? I don't want another piece of equipment that I will never use. My tack room is getting full. Do any of you have this same problem?
My cousin has a bosal but she really only uses it for "security" like if her horse were to stop listening she could correct her. Otherwise when she uses a bosal she doesn't "use" it to steer, she uses her legs. If your horse can neck rein this would be really good though. A side pull will probably be good for steering though. Try finding someone that has one and see if they'll let you test it out on your horse.
