Okay Do these people know what they are talking about?
I was watching a horse video from EquestrianLifeVideos.com on Youtube and it said that the higher the port on a curb the less severe the bit when used as "it allows the tongue to move around more" is this just crazy? It is on an English double bridle. I know on western curbs the higher the port the more severe and the longer the shank the more severe.
Which one? High port more severe bit or the oppisite?
Okay. I don't ride English and the little I have ridden I use a basic snaffle or a Full cheek snaffle.
OK in an English bit, the "higher" port is more like a low port in a Western bit. So it does take more pressure off of the tongue. However, yes a very high port and long shanks are more severe. I think they would be wise to clarify what is high for one style is not in the other. People just are tossing words around and not really explaining themselves well.
