AM I PREPARED FOR A HORSE?! PLZ HELP!?
am i prepared for a horse? i have 2 saddles, 2 saddle pads, 2 saddle blankets, 2 halters, 2 complete grooming kits, 2 horse leads, 1 trailer lead, 1 pair of jodhpurs, 1 pair of breeches, 1 bridle, 5 lb jar of treats, horse play ball, 4 dewormers, saddle soap, leather conditioner, horse shampoo, horse conditioner. i'm boarding the horse at a really good stable that includes feed, daily turnout, blanketing, and mucking out. am i prepared enough for 1 horse? personal experience of horse ownership advice appreciated. also is $400 a month boarding bad for all that? it's a really clean stable, and i can ride whenever i want. this a large out area, outdoor arena, and idoor arena. the owner, candy, is super nice and helpful. the stable has been in business for over 60 years.

You're never fully prepared! Getting a horse is like having a baby without the stretch marks. You can feel prepared but when it arrives you discover you need to do so much more! Especially when it's out in the field and on the second day has a disagreement with another horse, gets booted in the leg, and needs vet treatment!
I don't know about the boarding fees as I'm in the UK, if that includes all feed/hay though I guess it's ok, does it also include farrier visits though? That would need enquiring as I would imagine they have regular farrier visits at the stables.
Also, re the saddles, it's not a case of one sizes fits all with saddles! Your saddles may not fit the horse you get. Same goes for bridles.
