No Sew Fleece Blanket NO TIES?
How do you make a simple fleece blanket (one piece of fleece on top and a different one on bottom) without cutting slits and tying them together? Is there a way to braid the two pieces of fabric together? Or maybe lace some ribbon or a skinny piece of fleece??
I want to make one- I just dont like it when it is knotted or tied together.
Yes, it involves crochet.
You essentially lay the two layers of your blanket together and pin them so they don't shift. Make sure the edges are smooth and even.
Cut a long strip of fabric from a scrap left over from making your blanket layers. You will use this strip as your "yarn." This can be done by cutting a circular piece of fabric in a spiral pattern until you get to the center of the circle, forming a very long strip of fabric.
Poke or punch holes of even spacing in your blanket all alone the edges about half an inch from the edge (so it doesn't rip easily). Make sure the holes are large enough for you to fit your fabric strip and crochet hook into.
Then take the long strip of blanket material you cut earlier and crochet into those holes all along the edge until you get back to the beginning. Bind off and finish the ends in the most pleasing manner possible. Take out the pins and you're done.
If you don't want to crochet with blanket material, you could always just use a thick yarn of a matching color.
