How do you teach a horse western pleasure?
I have a question?How do you teach a horse western pleasure?A video of you saying steps and telling me what to do and sending it to me would be awesome!So please tell me what can I do to train a red roan gelding how ot do western pleasure.But if someone can do a video of it showing step by step.Thanks oh and if you have a video send it to cassiehearn17@yahoo.com

Well pleasure is always changing in style, but basically there are two ways you can go...
First of all, your horse needs to be built for it. You can't force your horse to ride a discipline that it's not built for. If your gelding is pretty leggy then you should be fine, but I can't see your horse so I don't know.
One way you can train him, is the old fashioned way which is quite collected, which rounds the back helping your horse go much slower. You need to practice circle after circle after circle. All sizes because a horse moves slower while bending and practicing circles will better prepare you for the straight rail. Also, don't ride your horse on the rail until its perfect. Practice straight lines in the middle of the ring. Your horse needs to know that the rail means "showtime"
The other way is the "newer" style. Its less collected with the nose slightly sticking out and the head is level with the shoulders. Also, the lope is slightly more forward to show off the movement. The old style is known as the "quick fix" where horses were forced to be pleasure horses. If you gelding is natural at pleasure, this will be easiest because you do the same training with LOTS OF CIRCLES and he well lower his head naturally.
I can't really teach you western pleasure online, but I can't stress enough that for pleasure, circles are really the best training. It sounds stupid, but I've learned from the best, and thats what you do. Have fun. Western pleasure can get quite boring.
