How do you repair man-made leather boots?
I own Franco Sarto 'clock' boots. The material on top of the foot on both ripped after wearing them only once, but I can't find any information on the net. I would be grateful for any advice you can lend.
Man made leather is vinyl, also known as plastic. It is neither strong nor durable nor can it stand up to stress. There's not much that can be done to repair vinyl shoes, once the material is ripped it's difficult to repair without the shoe looking like a plastic patch has been glued on. Some shoe repair shops won't even touch cheap vinyl shoes, no matter who the designer is or how much they cost. Try going back to where they were purchased and see if the store can help you. If not you can have them looked at by a repair person to see if there's anything that can be done. Next time buy real leather, it's far better quality, lasts longer, is less likely to tear, and if there's a problem it can be repaired.
