How do you transition from relaxed to natural hair without the big chop?
On January 1, 2010, I officially decided to go natural. I decided not to do the big chop because I wear wigs and half wigs and need some length in the front to make them look more realistic. Recently, I've noticed that a section of my relaxed hair has broken off leaving just very short natural hair. Is this normal? Should I just go ahead with the big chop? Please help!
Wearing braids until you gain enough length to where you are comfortable with being able to remove the relaxed ends. Congrats on your decision! For some support and advice from others who have done this go to http://forum.blackhairmedia.com and for some inspiration there is http://www.youtube.com/user/Sera2544
Just keep your hair clean and moisturized, deep condition it often, no greases at all, just natural oils, and you will see some beautiful hair sprouting from your scalp in no time.
