is it possible to use slugs in a non-rifled shotgun for pigs? if it is what kind?
in the fall ill be deer hunting and in the area the are feral pigs. i can legally hunt them with out having a license. i will have a .50 cal muzzleloader but i dont wish to use it on the pigs. im taking my shotgun in a scabbard. its a 12 gauge pump. i want to buy some slugs for it but i dont know which i can use if i can use any at all. what kind of slugs could i use? for example, sabots or rifled or standard regular ones. specific manufacturers and name of slug would be a huge help
I hunt boar with a smooth bore shotgun and rifled slugs almost exclusively.

I really like the "TruBall" slugs. They are extremely accurate and I have taken boar out to 65 yards with no problems at all.
I sight in at 50 yards at the range but would definitely feel comfortable taking a shot all the way out to 75 yards.
My hunting buddy swears by Winchester Super X in his smooth bore but I have never personally tried the Winchesters.
He is a great shot though, with his Super X ammo.

I would advise trying both at the range and see what your shotgun likes best.
