Eastern cultures have two main areas of influence Chinese and Indian. Chinese culture was influenced mainly by Confucius as well as the Khans.
Indian culture is based on Hindu teachings and That of Gautama (Buddha) also had great influence from the Khans.
Western culture is based on the Greek and later Roman societies.
However outside influences have changed this and Japan now has a more western than eastern style culture.
