my pony had a double twisted wire snaffle and it was harsh
i dont own my pony anymore so i dont need any advice my new horse uses a d-- ring ok

Nonsense!
The harshest bit in the world is the bit that is in the hands of a person who is harsh with it.
'Harsh' bits can be extremely gentle in the hands of an experienced person.
Snaffles can cause huge sores in the mouth of a horse ridden by someone who saws with the reins.
My point - Focus less on the bit and more on the hands!!!!!!! Once you learn this and master it, then and only then, can you truly call yourself a good rider.
